Veteran Party leader Samajwadi (SP) Azam Khan again shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Department of Medical Care Critical Medanta Hospital in Lucknow on Wednesday after his condition deteriorated. Azam Khan was accepted at Medanta on May 9 after testing the positive Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease in Sitapur Prison on April 30 with his son Abdullah Khan, 30.

“SP leaders are now treated for fibrosis and cavities in their lungs in the ICU and are on the support of 5 liters of oxygen per minute,” said Director of Medanta Dr. Rakesh Kapoor. “A critical care team is watching his condition,” he added.

Dr. Kapoor also said that the condition of Azam Khan’s son was stable.

Previously, the hospital had issued a statement where he said that the 72-year-old MP Rampi treatment was being carried out under the protocol of severe infectious diseases.

Yadav Hospital, Sitapur Prison Prison, said that Azam Khan underwent a Covid-19 test after complaining fever and cough. “Initially, the antigen was quickly done and then the sample was sent for the RT-PCR test, which was a positive report,” he said further.

Azam Khan, along with his son and wife Tazeen Fatma, has been in prison since February last year in connection with various cases of land deprivation, encroachment and others.

The High Court of Allahabad, in December, guarantees Fatma Tazeen in all three cases registering against it.
