Centre says scientific data on Covid-19 vaccine Corbevax is very promising

The center on Tuesday said that temporary scientific data from Coronavirus E-Biological (Covid-19) vaccine, Corbevax, promising. Dr. VK Paul, a member of Niti Aayog (Health) said that this vaccine is likely to be available in September.

“Scientific data while Corbevax e biologically promises. We will wait for Biological E to announce the price of Corbevax,” said Dr. Paul during the Daily Covid-19 press direction.

Paul said that the government had also placed an order to buy 300 million doses of Corbevax. He also said that the center was waiting for Biological E to announce the price of Corbevax and said that the financial assistance provided by the government would help cover the cost of procuring vaccine doses.

Corbevax is a RBD protein subunit vaccine and is currently undergoing clinical testing phase III.

“We have to wait biologically to announce the price of Corbevax. It will also depend on negotiations with the company and the financial assistance that has been given will fulfill the part of the vaccine price. The government has placed the order to buy 30 doses of the biological vaccine e to be available in September, “Paul said during a press conference.

During the briefing, Paul said that the government had placed an order to buy 440 million doses of covishied and covaxin from the Indian Serum Institute (SII) and Bharat Biotech. Of this 440 million doses, 250 million doses will be obtained from SII and the remaining 190 million doses will be obtained from Bharat Biotech. This dose will be available from now on until 2021.

“The government places orders for the procurement of 25 crores doses of covishield and 19 doses of covaxin crore. 44 Doses of Crore from Covishield (25 Crore Dosage) and Covaxin (19 Crore Dosage) will be available until December 2021 From now on,” he continued.

Paul also said that 30% of the progress for the procurement of this vaccine was released to vaccine producers. The Ministry of Health last week in the release said that it will also make a prepayment ₹ 1,500 crore to biologi E.
