A nine family was traveling with a sports utility vehicle from Peddavalaka Village to Rajahmundry to attend a home heating ceremony, when a container truck drove from the opposite direction hit a SUV.
Four people, including a five-month-old baby, died in place and five others suffered a sustainable injury, when a container truck crashed into a car where they traveled in East Godavari District East Andhra Pradesh in early morning, police said.
According to Peddapuram Sub-Inspector of Police Balaji, the incident occurred in front of the Ruchi Soya factory on the outskirts of Peddapuram on Jalan Raya Kakinada-Samalkot.
He said the nine family was traveling with a sports utility vehicle from Peddavalaka Village to Rajahmundry to attend a home heating ceremony.
“When the car crossed the industrial area on the outskirts of Peddapuram, a fast container truck came from the opposite direction crashing into a SUV. Four people including a five-month-old baby, a woman and two men died in that place,” Balaji said.
Five others, including people who drive cars, hurt. Locals, who immediately told the police, save injured trapped in the vehicle. “Three of them were taken to the Peddapuram Area Hospital and the other two were taken to the Kakinada government hospital,” said SI.
The deceased was identified as: Vanamadi Eshwar Rao (36), Vanamadi Annapurna (33), Aradadi Swamy (55) and a five-month-old baby. Five others – Aradadi Baby, Matha Ramalaxmi, J C Kumar, Matha Krishna and Matha Laxmi, survived the accident and were treated at the Kakinada government hospital.
Peddapuram police officers, who captured the truck driver, registered a case below section 337 and 304 (a) from the Indian Criminal Code (IPC). Investigation is ongoing.
