Mizoram CM presents budget for FY22 with outlay of ₹11 crore

Chief Minister of Mizoram Zoramthanga on Monday presented the annual budget for the Fiscal Year 2021-22 with expenses of ₹ 11,148.90 crore and there were no proposals to collect new taxes or raise new interest rates.

Zoramthanga also presented additional demands for grants for 2020-21 of ₹ 3.058.08 Crore.

Revenue income for 2021-22 is estimated to reach ₹ 9,216.39 crore, which is 82.67 of the total budget, he said.

CM, which also holds a financial portfolio, said the state government continues to take steps to increase its income from all sectors.

The income target will be achieved not by imposing new taxes but through more efficient tax collection, he said.

The state government also expects a grant of ₹ 5,267.82-crore from the 15th Finance Commission, and ₹ 2,570.39 Crore for the implementation of a centralized sponsored scheme (CSS), said Zoramthanga.

He said regardless of limited income resources, the government aims to maintain a revenue surplus of ₹ 579.42 crore in 2021-2022.

Zoramthanga added that the Mizoram government must continue with its savings measures to the financial position of the state increase.
