Deputy Minister of Manish Sisodia on Monday issued orders to reduce the current teacher placement on the Covid-19 task so that they can report back to schools that are reopened on Monday for students of 10th and 12th grade. Sisodia, who holds the education portfolio, asked the secretary The head to issue the instructions needed to all district judges.

“It has been taken to my notification that around 20,000-25,000 teachers are currently posted with district authorities for Covid related tasks. Considering the importance of current education and status of the Covid situation in Delhi, the district authority substantially reduces the level of current deployment and directs Teachers to report back to schools for their regular duties, “said the command authorized by Sisodia on Monday. ,

Schools in the National Capital have been closed since March due to Pandemics and Covid-19 teachers deployed at various tasks related to Covid, including managing the quarantine center and isolation, involved in door-to-door surveys and enforcing the Covid protocol.

Last week, after the Delhi government allowed school to reopen for grade 10 and 12 students, some school principals have expressed concern about managing classes because teachers are still used in Covid-19 tasks. Ajay Veer Singh, Secretary General of the Government School Teacher Association, said, “This will be a mere formality if the school is reopened without adequate staff. We cannot call students back to school after 10 months and do not have enough teachers to guide them.”

“Because of the nature of a pandemic once in a lifetime that has never existed, it is a collective responsibility for every Delhi government officials including Delhi teachers to carry out emergency-related tasks associated with Covid,” said Sisodia in the Order Monday. “However, given the upcoming council examination, the Delhi government has decided to start special classes including practical examinations, pre-board exams for grade 10 and 12 students from Monday.”

The Minister of Education also said, “The future wisdom is needed to call the teacher’s services so that education activities, which initially mandated by teachers, were not seriously disturbed.”

In the order of passing on Monday, the Delhi government also stated that the teacher would only be used for Covid-related tasks after consulting with the Directorate of Education.

The district authority has been directed “not to call any teacher service for administrative / related jobs related, in addition to the tasks associated with Covid. If in any emergency situation, the district authority feels the need to spread teachers, previously permission from the Minister of Education must be mandatory for the involvement of teachers in such work. “
